Ryan brings a lifetime of baseball experience to every training session. A native of Canada and a standout at Wayne State University, Ryan set multiple offensive records including All-Time Hits leader, holds a career .401 batting average, inducted into WSU Hall of Fame in 2016, and earned All-American

honors before signing with the

Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

 

His time in professional baseball shaped his deep understanding of hitting mechanics, in-game approach, and player development at every level.

 

Today, Ryan channels that experience into helping the next generation of players reach their full potential through advanced instruction focused on hitting.

Ryan combines his knowledge of swing science and bat performance to

give players every competitive edge —

from the cage to game day.

JAYSON RUHLMAN

PITCHING & HITTING COACH

Playing Career:

  • College: Central Michigan University (2004–2005), where he made 22 starts over 43 appearances. Played 2 seasons( 2003-2004) with the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League. 

  • Drafted: Selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the 2002 MLB Draft (did not sign) and by the Chicago Cubs in the 23rd round of the 2005 MLB Draft.

  • Professional: Pitched in the Cubs' minor league system from 2006 to 2009, reaching Triple-A with the Iowa Cubs. He compiled a career 18–11 record with a 3.43 ERA over 175 appearances, all in relief. ​

  • Instructor at D-BAT Frisco, 10+ years: Specializes in pitching & hitting instruction for players of all ages. ​

Areas of Expertise:

  • Pitching: mechanics, command/control, & routine. 

  • Hitting: Focuses on swing mechanics, plate discipline, & mental approach.​

COOPER MEADOWS

CATCHING & HITTING COACH

Cooper Meadows brings high-level catching and hitting instruction to Fiver Sports. A Romeo High School graduate and current catcher at Cleary University in Michigan, Cooper understands what it takes to develop behind the plate and in the

batter’s box.

His lessons focus on building strong fundamentals, confidence, game awareness, receiving, blocking, throwing, swing mechanics, and approach. Cooper is great with players who want to compete, improve, and learn the details that separate good players from great ones. Whether your athlete is new to catching or preparing for the next level, Cooper provides instruction that is clear, competitive,

and player-focused

MIKE DAWSON

PITCHING & HITTING COACH

Mike has been around the game his entire life and is passionate about helping athletes grow both on and off the field. A former varsity baseball player at Troy Athens, he has continued to play competitive adult baseball for over 34 years as both a pitcher and infielder.

​

With years of coaching experience, Mike has led travel softball and baseball teams while also training pitchers, hitters, and fielders in both sports. His coaching style emphasizes strong fundamentals, skill development, and building confidence in every athlete he works with.

Sports are also a big part of his family life—his daughter plays collegiate softball at Cornerstone University, and his son plays baseball at Romeo High School.

JACKSON BODIS

CATCHING & HITTING COACH

Jackson Bodis brings a strong catching background and competitive playing experience to Fiver Sports. A former standout at De La Salle Collegiate, Jackson now continues his career as a catcher at Northwood University. He works with athletes on the fundamentals that matter behind the plate and in the batter’s box, including receiving, blocking, throwing, footwork, approach, swing mechanics, and confidence. Jackson’s instruction is a great fit for players who want to sharpen their catching skills, improve their offensive consistency, and learn from someone actively competing at the college level.
